Constitutional Claim, How You Can Help

Nov 13, 2005 Press Release Painreliefnetwork.org

Pain Relief Network has garnered more media attention to our issue than we ever dreamed possible. We have had favorable editorials in major papers and front page articles in others. We have made alliances with mainstream pain foundations, the National Association of Attorney’s Generals, and many mainstream medical organizations. Countless hours have been spent educating Members of Congress and their staff, and we have made our demands for equal treatment under the law, loud and clear. The response? Silence. They promise hearings, but don’t deliver. They promise Medicare reform, but don’t deliver

Therefore:

We have decided to put all our resources into bringing a case before the United States Supreme Court, asking that they strike down the Controlled Substances Act on the grounds that it violates 5th Amendment rights to due process for patients in pain, and violates the 10th Amendment, delegating the potential regulation of medicine to the states.

The Executive and Legislative Branches of the Central Government have overstepped their jurisdiction. We have outlined our approach to PRN’s Constitutional claim and are seeking your support. It is our heartfelt belief that the Justices on the United States Supreme Court have no intention of letting stand a law that brutalizes ill people, and creates a criminalized caste — unable to complain about their ongoing abuse at the hands of law enforcement.

Download the Constitutional Claim and pass it around. It is important that we all come to know our rights.

Please also enlist the help of your friends, families and coworkers in asking for ongoing financial support for PRN. We are leading the way in emancipating people in pain and we will not stop until they are all treated as full citizens of our great country.
