I want to go on record with many other sufferers of chronic pain in saying that you are making a mistake by your tunnel vision on this case, and your failure to date to intervene in a case that will go to far and put a pain patient into jail for 25 years.
You are on the wrong side of this issue!
And there are many more like me - thousands who believe you are pushing this point too far and should be putting away cocaine smuggling, heroin importing, ecstasy making, meth house makers instead of a person who was in obvious pain and crossed the line - and I am not saying this guy is a saint or that he didn’t do anything wrong. But I firmly believe you are driving home a point on the wrong person.
Many a person is given a second chance, but because this guy won’t take you plea bargain down to the letter - you have decided to make an example out of him.
Why not grant him clemency after doing a number or years, the political capital that you might get you firmly need and if you fail to do the wrong thing, there are many people who will make it their life'’ goal to ensure you never have the chance to mis-serve the public again.
Remember who elected you, voters who are human, who sometimes make mistakes and should pay a price for them but not the price you and your administration have decided to make him pay. 25 years, take away a third of his life because he was trying not to feel the pain of multiple injuries and now MS.
Like I said earlier, you should do the right thing before you leave, you should show some compassion and some heart. It will pay big dividends, In fact do it now, if you want to help everyone involved, before even the members of your own political party decide to rise in unison against your un-informed decision aboutthis case.

Thanks in advance for doing the right thing.
