WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - The Kansas Attorney General's Office says it's monitoring actions by the head of an advocacy group for chronic-pain patients.

Siobhan Reynolds is president of the New Mexico-based Pain Relief Network.

A spokeswoman for the attorney general's office says it's monitoring whether Reynolds — who is not a lawyer — might be practicing law in the case of Dr. Stephen Schneider of Haysville.

Schneider is accused of operating a so-called "pill mill" that's linked to at least 56 overdose deaths.

Reynolds says she never claims to be a lawyer but says she has experience from the cases of other doctors who were indicted for prescribing medication to chronic-pain patients.

Schneider's wife, Linda, also faces charges. Prosecutors filed a motion today for a hearing to determine whether she is competent to assist in her own defense.
